Restoring Connection.

Since March 30th 2020, we have been coming together as a community to connect with and nurture our inner eco-systems and to really feel our connection to the web of life.

It is my belief that restoring our connection to our inner and outer eco-systems is essential to humanity moving forward in a just and good way.

When the problems of the world are overwhelming and I feel like I have little to no power or control to do anything on a large scale, I remember that I am PART of the Universe. I am PART of the Earth. Just like my leg is part of me.

When my leg is in pain it affects the rest of me so tending and caring for my leg benefits the whole of me. Just as tending to our inner selves and restoring our individual connections to the web of life will have a positive impact on our greater whole.

Just as disconnection leads to more disconnection, connection leads to more connection.

We live in and are part of multiple interdependent systems. Where the function of one part affects and is affected by the function of all the other parts. And all the parts together makes a greater whole.

Our bodies are interdependent. Made up of many different parts that function and flow. If my blood stops flowing to my arm, my arm is going to be impacted. And this will affect the function of the greater "me"

We live in communities that are interdependent. Our food is grown by people we don't know, collected and distributed by other people, and eventually we buy it. If certain roads were closed, or train tracks, or there was a drought somewhere this would impact the food we have access to and the price we pay for them.

Our Earth is interdependent. What we buy and throw away, the trees we cut down, the cars we drive, the wars we participate in (directly and indirectly) all have impact on our planet's ability to function - and this affects all of the parts - each of us.

So when I look around and see so many examples of broken systems and choices that suppress life I can feel sad and overwhelmed.

But then I remember that all of these systems are incredibly resilient and that nourishing a part of any of these systems is going to have positive impact on the whole.

So whatever action you take to promote life and nurture yourself, your community and our greater eco-system has value and impact.

Please remember that something as simple as breathing has the ability to restore connection. And when I am back in connection with myself, well, then I can make more aware decisions that have positive impact not only in my personal life, but for my local and wider communities as well.
